Alec's eyebrows bolt up to his hairline at the clear expression of disbelief that Jacob adopts. He's never had a man who could turn into an impossibly big wolf look at him like he was being outlandish before, and honestly he's almost certain he should be offended right now.
He keeps his comments to himself for the time being, though. And not just because Jacob looks like... all of that (Alec is a mere mortal with eyes, okay.) Also because he's about to ask for help and he actually is, shockingly, capable of being diplomatic when the situation calls for it.
"Maybe your youngest can survive," he allows, after a moment to think (clear his head.) Because yeah, if the rest of Jacob's pack is as big as he is while shifted then they probably don't have that much to worry about, but. But. "But this forest borders on a town." The and humans can't defend themselves for crap goes politely unsaid. It's maybe a little cheap to aim so blatantly for the protective instincts of a shifter, of all supernatural creatures, but frankly it's the argument that would have worked on him too, so Alec doesn't exactly feel bad.
"I can track it with a Rune," he says instead of continuing down that ominous track, then moves to slide his bow all the way up his arm and over his head so he can strap it across his body, with the string against his chest. The arrow slips into the quiver peeking up over one of his shoulders. He assumes they've gotten past the threats portion of the evening, and it's better to work on a plan than catastrophize. He has no intention of failing his mission here. "And I can kill it. I just can't get the drop on it, it always smells the arrowheads coming."
